 ရိုဟင္ဂ်ာဆိုတာ တိုင္းရင္းသားလူမ်ိဳးျဖစ္ပါတယ္ ဆိုတဲ့ concept မရွိပါဘူး။ သူတို႕အေနနဲ႕ မတ္တပ္ရပ္ျပီးေတာ့ သူတို႕ဟာ ျမန္မာတိုင္းရင္းသားပါ လို႕ ေၾကြးေၾကာ္လို႕ေတာ့ ရတာေပါ့ေလ။ ဒါေပမဲ့ ဒီလို ေအာ္ေနတာက အေကာင္းဆံုး နည္းလမ္းမဟုတ္ဘူးလို႕ ကၽြန္ေတာ္ ထင္ပါတယ္။ သူတို႕အေနနဲ႕ ရခိုင္ျပည္မွာ မ်ိဳးဆက္တစ္ခုမက ေနထိုင္လာၾကတဲ့ မူစလင္ေတြပါ လို႕ ေျပာရင္ေတာ့ ျငင္းဖို႕ခက္ပါမယ္။ ရိုဟင္ဂ်ာဆိုတာ ေ၀ါဟာရ တစ္ခုပါ။ ေရွးေဟာင္းစကားလံုး တစ္ခုျဖစ္ျပီးေတာ့ ျမန္မာႏိုင္ငံ လြတ္လပ္ေရးရျပီး ေနာက္ပိုင္းေရာက္မွသာ ဒါကို အသံုးျပဳျပီးေတာ့ ႏိုင္ငံေရး ေခါင္းစဥ္တပ္ႏိုင္ဖို႕ အတြက္ ေတာင္းဆိုေနၾကတာ ျဖစ္ပါတယ္။ အခုအခ်ိန္အထိေတာ့ သူတို႕အားလံုး (ရခိုင္ျပည္နယ္အတြင္းက မူစလင္ေတြ အားလံုး) အေနနဲ႕ အဲဒီ ႏိုင္ငံေရး ေခါင္းစဥ္တစ္ခု ေအာက္မွာ အက်ံဳး၀င္ဖို႕ အဆင္သင့္ မျဖစ္ပါဘူး။ ကၽြန္ေတာ္ ဘဂၤလားေဒ့ရွ္ကို ေရာက္ခဲ့တုန္းက ရခိုင္ျပည္ကေန ဘဂၤလားေဒ့ရွ္ကို ေျပာင္းေရႊ႕လာတယ္ ဆိုတဲ့ မူစလင္ေတြကို ေမးၾကည့္ခဲ့ဖူးပါတယ္။ ခင္ဗ်ားတို႕က ရခိုင္ျပည္က လာတဲ့ ရိုဟင္ဂ်ာလား.. လုိ႕။ သူတို႕က ေျပာပါတယ္။ ကၽြန္ေတာ္တို႕ ရိုဟင္ဂ်ာ မဟုတ္ပါဘူး၊ ကၽြန္ေတာ္တို႕ဟာ ရခိုင္ျပည္မွာ ေနထိုင္ခဲ့တဲ့ မူစလင္ေတြပါ။ ကၽြန္ေတာ္တို႕ကို ရိုဟင္ဂ်ာဆိုတဲ့ စေတကာ ကပ္ေပးလို႕ မရပါဘူး.. လို႕ ျပန္ေျပာခဲ့ပါတယ္။ 

 Q:   Are the Rohingya an ethnic group of Burma?

 A:   My answer is that Rohingya is not an ethnic concept. Okay, they can stand up and say we are an ethnic group inside Myanmar. But I think that is not the best way. When you argue we are Muslims and we have been living in Rakhine for several generations, nobody can deny it. For me, Rohingya is the term, which is an old word that has been claimed as above all as a political label after the independence of Myanmar. For the moment, I do not see that all the people there readily submit to one and a single label. When I was in Bangladesh, people pointed out Muslims to me who originally lived in Rakhine. They have now moved to Bangladesh and when you ask them, “are you Rohingya coming from Rakhine?” they say, “no, we are Muslims who live in Rakhine, we do not take for us the label Rohingya.”

 ရိုဟင္ဟူသည္မွာ (China ကို တရုတ္ဟု ျမန္မာတို႕က ေခၚသကဲ့သို႕) ရခိုင္ျပည္ကို ရိုဟင္ ဟု ဘဂၤလီမ်ားက ဘဂၤလီဘာသာျဖင့္ ေရွးေခတ္က ေခၚဆိုၾကျခင္းသာ ျဖစ္ျပီး ဆင့္ပြား ေ၀ါဟာရျဖစ္ေသာ ရိုဟင္ဂ်ာမွာ ရခိုင္ျပည္သားဟု အဓိပၸါယ္ရေၾကာင္း သိရသည္။ အဆိုပါ ေ၀ါဟာရမွာ ရခိုင္ျပည္သား သို႕မဟုတ္ ရခိုင္မ်ားႏွင့္သာ သက္ဆိုင္ျပီး၊ ေနာက္ပိုင္းကာလမွသာ ရခိုင္ျပည္သို႕ ဘဂၤလားမွ ေရႊ႕ေျပာင္း၀င္ေရာက္လာသူ ဘဂၤလီမ်ားႏွင့္ သက္ဆိုင္မႈ မရွိေၾကာင္း သိရပါသည္။ ၁၉၅၀ ေနာက္ပိုင္းတြင္မွ အဆိုပါ လူမသိ သူမသိေသာ ေရွးေဟာင္း ဘဂၤလီ ေ၀ါဟာရကို ရခိုင္ျပည္နယ္မွ ဘဂၤလီ ပညာတတ္မ်ားက ႏွစ္ေပါက္တစ္ေပါက္ရိုက္ကာ လွည့္စား အသံုးျပဳလိုက္ျခင္း ျဖစ္ျပီး၊ ရိုဟင္ဂ်င္လူမ်ိဳးဟူသည့္ တိုင္းရင္းသား လူမ်ိဳးသစ္ ႏိုင္ငံေရး ကစားကြက္ တစ္ခု ေပၚေပါက္လာခဲ့ျခင္း ျဖစ္ေၾကာင္း သိရွိရပါသည္...
